Selection procedure for limited quota programmes (loting)
For the following Bachelor’s programmes at Leiden University there are a limited quota of places available:
-
Medicine
-
Biomedical Sciences
-
Criminology
-
Psychology
This means that even though you are accepted by Leiden University you are not necessarily guaranteed a place. Prospective students for these programmes must take part in a national selection procedure involving the drawing of lots.
This selection procedure is organised by the “DUO” (Dienst Uitvoering Onderwijs), operating on behalf of the Dutch Ministry of Education.
The deadline for taking part in the DUO selection procedure is 15 May in the year in which you wish to begin your Bachelor’s studies. Before this date you must ensure that you have completed the following two steps:
-
You should have registered through Studielink
-
You should have submitted to DUO a statement of (conditional) admission from Leiden university.
Applications submitted to the DUO after 15 May may be considered but only if there are still places available.
You are only allowed to take part in the DUO selection procedure three times. If you want to cancel your request to take part in the selection procedure you must notify the DUO before 15 May. The DUO will notify you of whether you have been allocated a place by approximately 15 July.
